Educational Programs List


Transfer to a 4-year Institution

 

CSU + UC

Take courses in order to transfer to a 4-year institution, such as University of California (UC), California State University (CSU), private/independent, and/or out-of-state institutions. 

Requirements include (vary by level of institution):

  • Minimum number of transferable units (60 for UC and CSU institutions)
  • Minimum general education courses
  • Minimum grade point average (2.0 for CSU's and 2.4 for UC's)
  • Major preparation courses

Associate Degree for Transfer to the CSU

 

CSU

Take courses to earn an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) in a specific major that will guarantee admissions to a CSU institution.
VC currently has 28 ADT's to choose from! 

Requirements include:

  • Complete at least 60 CSU transferable units
  • 2.0 GPA or higher
  • Completion of all CSU General Education courses (approximately 41-47 units)
  • Completion of all major preparation courses (at least 18 units)

Associate Degree


VC AA

Take courses to complete an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree.
VC currently has 45 AA and AS degree programs! 

Requirements include:

  • Complete at least 60 degree-applicable units
  • 2.0 GPA or higher
  • 12+ units completed at Ventura College
  • General Education
  • Completion of at least 18 units of major or Area of Emphasis courses

Certificate of Achievement

COA

Take courses to complete a Certificate of Achievement (COA), which require concentrated study in specific skill or knowledge area. 
VC currently has 46 COA programs!

Requirements include:

  • A minimum of 16 units (8-15.5 units in a low-unit certificate) in COA applicable major coursework
  • 2.0 GPA.

Proficiency Award


COA

Take courses to complete a Proficiency Award, which require only a few courses in concentrated study to lead them to a specific types of employment or to enhance their skills. 
VC currently has 16 Proficiency Awards!

Requirements include:

  • A minimum of 16 units (8-15.5 units in a low-unit certificate) in COA applicable major coursework with a C or better
