New Student-Athlete Checklist
Follow the steps below as you prepare for your first semester here at VC as a Student-Athlete!
Step 1 - Apply to Ventura College
- If first attending in Spring 2025, apply for Spring 2025 ONLY.
- Will you still be in High School during the Spring 2025 term (January - mid-May)? Be sure to review the Dual Enrollment Page Links to an external site. and submit the DE Recommendation Form Links to an external site. Links to an external site.
- If first attending in Summer 2025, apply for both Summer 2025 and Fall 2025.
- If first attending in Fall 2025, apply for Fall 2025 ONLY. Links to an external site.

Step 2 - Financial Aid (does NOT need to be completed in order to register, but should be completed ASAP)
- Complete: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application or California DREAM Act application
- If starting in Spring or Summer 2025, complete the 2024-2025 academic year AND the 2025-2026 academic year
- If starting in Fall 2025 or later, complete the 2025-2026 academic year only
- Input Ventura College as your Primary College: 001334
- Review: Requirements for the VC Promise
- Review: Tuition and Fees
- Review: Residency Reclassification Request (Out-of-state students to update their residency status to CA)

Step 3 - Complete: MyVCCCD Setup-Wizard
- Wait for acceptance email from Ventura College after you've applied (Step 1)
- Write down your Student ID Number: 900_______
- Write down your VCCCD Email account (all official communication from VC will be sent to this email address)
- Activate your MyVCCCD portal and create password (Instructions in acceptance email)

Step 4 - Complete: Online Orientation Links to an external site.
Step 5 - Submit Official Transcripts (High School, AP Scores and from Previous Colleges/Universities)
- HS Graduates - wait until AFTER your transcript confirms your graduation date
- All grades must be FINAL, and all scores posted.

- Unofficial transcripts can be sent to scasey@vcccd.edu for initial course advising, but officials will eventually need to be submitted to vcadmissions@vcccd.edu .
Step 6 - Contact your VC Head Coach
- Discuss practice/game time commitments, schedules, and other requirements/expectations
Step 7 - Meet with Academic Counselor to register for courses
- Attend a group educational planning and registration workshop.

Step 8 - Add: Canvas Resource Page for VC Student-Athletes
- Complete: VC to NCAA Transfer 101 Presentation and Quiz (not necessary in order to register, but helpful information to know about NCAA Transfer options)
