What is TidyUp?
TidyUp is a powerful yet simple tool designed to help you effortlessly clean up your Canvas courses.
With just a few clicks, you can scan for unpublished pages and unlinked files, and easily delete them from your course.
Itโs like a little bit of clean-up magic mixed with a whole lot of awesome!
Features of TidyUp:
- Identify and Delete Unused Files: Quickly find and remove all files not being used in your course.
- View File Usage: See which files are actively used in your course and where theyโre being utilized.
- Manage Empty Folders: Locate and delete empty folders in the files section.
- Streamline Content Management: View and manage all Canvas pages, assignments, quizzes, and discussions, with options to delete multiple items at once.
Best time to use TidyUp:
- Beginning of the Semester: Clean up old, unused content and files from previous terms.
- Pre-Ally Accessibility Report: Make your Ally Course Accessibility Report more manageable by removing unused items first.
- End of the Semester: Clear out extra or duplicated content before copying or importing your course for the next term.
Getting Started with TidyUp:

Add TidyUp to Your Course Navigation:
- Go to Settings in the course navigation menu.
- Click on the Navigation tab.
- Drag TidyUp from the bottom to the top section and click Save.

Scan Your Course:
- Select TidyUp from your Course Navigation.
- Click the Scan Course button on the TidyUp Welcome page.
- Wait for the scan to complete (usually a few seconds to a few minutes).

Review and Delete Content:
- Once the scan is finished, use filters to review the content.
- Bulk select and delete unused files. Files currently in use cannot be deleted.
