Template: Answering Commons Questions

Often several students have the same question. Rather than responding to each individually, take the opportunity to share the information in an announcement. This will save you time and ensure that all students benefit from the information, even those who didn't know they needed it!

Best Practices to forfend student questions:

  • Get Ahead of Common Questions with Announcements
  • Set Clear Expectations for Engagement
  • Provide Detailed Instructions for Learning Materials
  • Share Detailed Criteria & Rubrics for Assessments
  • Post Announcements or Intro Pages to Set for Success
  • Send Reminders Before Due Dates, Exams, etc.
  • Set Clear Policies Regarding Late Work & Resubmissions
  • Provide Clear Feedback When Grades are Posted

Simply create an announcement, removing any identifiable information about specific students. Consider adding a video of you or your screen to better present the information.

Below you will find an example of some wording you can use in this type of announcement.
