Template: Assignment Feedback Announcements

We know that most faculty provide descriptive feedback to students in the Canvas grade book. This is a great way to help individual students but does not allow students to learn from each other on individual assignments. Consider sharing an announcement to provide overall feedback so students can benefit from the work of their peers!

Consider including the following elements in your announcement:

  • Let students know that individual grades and feedback are available in the grade book.
  • Generalize what students did right (remove identifying information and do not call out specific students!)
  • Summarize common mistakes and explain where students could have improved their submissions (again, remove identifying information and do not call out specific students!)
  • Explain how the assignment content ties into past, present, and/or future course material or meets student learning outcomes.

Below you will find an example and template for this type of announcement.

Be sure to edit the highlighted and bracketed text!
